BLESS IRELAND
by Donald Matthew Stevens

Spirit is the word that comes to mind
Bless my dear Ireland
For my mum and dads folks came over
here
Feed the families till we can come home
again

Here rolling green hills wait for me
Bless my dear Ireland
Like an emerald awash in northern sea
In my heart she is still beckoning, when?

And generations have stayed on to help
make
This America a great land.
Irish lads and lassies
Offering adopted home a helping hand

And as we grow and raise our own
Bless my dear Ireland
In our hearts she'll always be home
I'll fight fiercely for my Erin

So raise a glass and here me say
In a blessed Irish way
To my loves and life and God, to you
Always let me live the Irish way

May there always be work for your hands to do;
May your purse always hold a coin or two;
May the sun always shine on your windowpane;
May a rainbow be certain to follow each rain;
May the hand of a friend always be near you;
May God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you.
